It’s fascinating to write these “Version 1” iterations of the different facets of Yoga in Boulder. These are all topics that I’ve indulged on for the past three years, grinding mind and heart to feel into the best perspectives and the best actions.
It has always been, and continues to be, a work in progress. It’s dimensions are ramifications, just like everything else, are endless. I want to make these intentions clear for all to know where we are coming from in terms of values, morals and integrity. As usual, I am open to insight and suggestions, the more perspectives we have, the easier it is to create a harmonious vision.
The Values
The first value is connection. This is our central objective. We aim to experience more connection with ourselves, each other and the divine in all things. Yoga in Boulder focuses on the yoga community in Boulder, but goes far beyond talking about asana and philosophy. We want to get people together, we want to foster community, expand our network and find more harmony.
Truth is the second most important value. This includes transparency and authenticity. We want to make sure everything we say is true and keep an honest voice for the public. We aim to be a trustworthy source of information, with clean and clear intentions.
Compassionate communication is the third priority. Yes, we want the truth, and we also want to be kind about it. We strive to focus on the positive, honoring the negative when needed, yet being tactful about it. There is too much pain and stress in the world, we don’t want to create any more of it, in fact, our mission is to be uplifting. It is obvious that we don’t know all there is to know, and we may be quite blinded to some key issues. Whomever is at the other end of our interactions, we want to ensure every interaction is polite, cordial, welcoming and kind.
The Morals
Our code of conduct is based on personal systems to differ right from wrong. It is clear that we have the best intentions possible, and more wisdom is always welcomed. We hope that our thoughts, words and actions will benefit all beings. We can make mistakes, and are open to hearing about them. Much of this is completely new to us and we are constantly learning. If there is anything that doesn’t work for you, please speak up and make a request to get your needs met. We may not be able to agree with everything, but we’ll try to be as inclusive as possible and keep an open mind.
At the end of the day, the best we can do is be still and listen to the calling of our heart. For me, this has turned to hundreds of hours in front of my computer, creating something that may never reach it’s full potential. At the core of all this there is nothing but love for the inspiration that flows through me, and faith in surrendering to the pull of life, the creative force that moves all things. We are in her hands.
Integrity
Responsibility, the ability to be responsible. An empowering words that fuels our actions. I like to think we are all responsible for everything, because we are able to respond to everything. Some things we can change and others we can’t. We may have direct, or indirect control, but we have control nonetheless.
We try to stay awake, and move from the heart, remembering that all is one, a cosmic play where love is always the best move. We may trip, and even fall, but the sun always rises and our heart sooner or later hears the call and returns to it’s center. In that way, we allow ourselves to move through this project, staying grounded in our spirit and fully trusting our hearts. In Love We Trust.
