Ms. Life has a funny way to go around her curves.
Six years ago she had me scrapping the bottom of a rotten heart, lost in the darkest darkness.
“You should practice meditation”, my mother said, “come to a yoga class with me”, my father added.
“No way” was my general response. They insisted, and I persisted to desist.
My body couldn’t support it, my pride couldn’t take it, my frustration was beyond repair.
And of course, like everything, it changed.
Don’t Try Yoga, Become It
How could I tell you what shifted my mood?
Perhaps it was the season, or the alignment of the stars. Perhaps it was my time, I was ripe and ready. It’s no surprise that when it hit me, it was hard and fast.
Yoga Groupons, I had them, yoga teacher trainings, did three in a row, volunteered to do community service at my local studio, became the manager.
Two years later I had added 1,000 hours of massage and bodywork education and a few years later find me writing this post.
By the smile on that dog’s face I can tell we are in good alignment.
