It was 7 am this morning when I woke up, jumped off bed and rush out the door to make it to the 7:15 Kundalini yoga class at Rally Sport. My friend Ben and I had commited to go, and even though a part of me felt like sleeping in, a better part of me knew this was the right way to start the day.
I was glad to show up, the practice was more challenging than the kundalini class we did yesterday with Gurmukh. Several times I felt like droping my arms and taking a nap, but I knew I needed to push through my mind and do my best to stay with the kriya.
Kundalini with Karuna
It felt light to get out of bed, brush my teeth and get out the door. It reminds me of cold showers in the morning. Heading straight out like that forced me to wake up, the ride to Rally Sport was easy and pleasant. Been listening to The East Pointers lately, they have an epic new album.
This time we had five students, Ben, myself and another lady from Gurmukh’s class, an elder to my right who has been practicing kundalini yoga for 14 years, and a lady to my left who hadn’t been to a yoga class in 5 years. It was all in good balance.
Karuna’s class was noticeably more challenging than Gurmukh’s (In my shoulder’s humble opinion). I am not sure if it was the martian energy of a Tuesday or if Karuna just felt like kicking our butts.
Another Successful Morning
At the end of class I felt focus and calm, very much embodied inside my field. I got to chat for a moment with Karuna, who invited me to a workshop on Saturday at her house, featuring Mike Cohen. Wow =D.
Often, my experience is that finishing a kundalini class brings a sence of pride. It doesn’t matter if I dropped my arms a handful of times, at least I sat there and tried my best.
To top it off I hopped on an extra cold shower to rinse off and get back to work. Another chill morning. 🙂
