Last week I invited my friend Ben to join Rally Sport. He’s been to the gym six straight days since then, and yesterday he invited me to join him for a yin yoga class.
It was my first yin class in a long time, a simple reminder of how little we need to let go and surrender. It was also my first yoga class at Rally Sport since I started teaching there.
Yin Yoga with Jennifer
Rally Sport is right in the center of Boulder, just a mile east of Pearl St. It has a private parking lot with additional street parking. The yoga room is tucked on the north-west wing of the building. The class started on time, and we got right into the poses. Jennifer was awesome, super clear instructions, a well-paced class with good sequencing and some fun variations. It was exactly what I needed,
Aside from Ben and I, who are on our early 30s, the rest of the class was comprised of elder women, probably in their 50s-60s. The class was challenging, still appropriate for all levels.
Rejoicing in the Practice
It was nice to practice yin right after lifting weights. My body was tired enough that I couldn’t force myself deeper into the poses, and also warm enough that I could drop into them with more ease. Not sure if that is a recommended way to prepare for class but it served me well.
It was nice to go with my friend to the class, it added an extra sense of comradery to the experience and inspired me to get more yoga buddies that will support my practice.
